Miss Pink's Dance Recital(s)

We just ended another fun year of dance for Miss Pink.

I never got around to posting pictures of their Halloween "in-class" performance.

 Miss Pink started to dance as soon as the music started...

and danced away until she saw Mr. Blue recording her.

Then she stopped dancing.

 She absolutely refused to dance at their little Christmas performance.

She cried every time I took her to dance.

One day I had had it and I told her, "Fine.  If you don't want to go to dance, you will stay in your room the entire day."  Guess what she said.  "That's fine.  I'll stay in my room."

And she did.

I was at my wits end with her since the only time she wouldn't dance was in dance class.

Finally I gave in and sat near the class and read a book - for several weeks.

The deal was I would stay if she would dance.

Then one day she was ready to dance without me there.

I wasn't sure if she would dance at her recital, but she assured me that she would.

 And dance she did.

She danced beautifully.

(If I wasn't so technologically impaired I would even post a video.)

I was super proud of her.

 Miss Pink's "best friend in the whole wide world" was in her class this year.

 Their favorite thing to play at our house is "dance party".

I love seeing the poses they come up with.

Some of them are pretty spectacular.

Miss L has been a fantastic teacher.

We will miss her so much next year!

Little Girl

Someday this little girl is going to be all grown up.

Until then...

I will enjoy the outfits she puts together and the way she can strike a pose.

(This is yesterday's outfit that she wore to dance class.)

I will also enjoy the fact that she can eat an entire loaf of bread in one day.

I will also enjoy her smile, giggles, jokes, spunk, dancing, climbing into bed with me at all hours of the night, hugs and squeezes, and love of life.
One of my favorite things that I hear each day is when she says, "I love you Momma!"

I love you little girl.

You are truly special.

Monday was the big night.

Miss Pink had her first REAL dance recital!

Her teacher let parents come in and watch around Christmas and Halloween, but Miss Pink had some stage fright and wouldn't dance.

(She smiled on those days though!)

Her teacher decided that rather than have all of the parents squeeze into her basement studio, she would have the recital for both of her classes at the local church.

Miss Pink was so SUPER excited for her recital!

I was worried that she wouldn't dance once she realized she would be on stage with lots of crazy parents snapping pictures right and left in the audience.

So I did what every good mother would do and I bribed her a few days before the recital.

I said, "Miss Pink, if you will dance during your songs, what would like to get?"

Her quick response, "Bubble gum.  The pink kind that is round."

Easy!

The night of the recital she bounced all the way upstairs to get ready.

She practically jumped into her leotard.

Then we did her hair (she even wore clips), sprayed glitter all over her hair, put "diamond dust" on her cheeks, and sparkled up her lips with gloss.

We arrived at the church and her teacher had them practice.

Practice was cancelled earlier due to a funeral at the church.

Miss Pink was all smiles.

 Then it was showtime.

Miss Pink smiled and danced her heart out.

She danced beautifully.

(Every once in a while she would look at me and say, "Stop Mom!  No more pictures!")

I am sooooo grateful that we found Miss L!

I'm also really grateful that she has decided to teach again next year.

She is amazing.

Today Miss Pink informed me that she doesn't want to do preschool next year or music class.

She just wants to DANCE.

5, 6, 7, 8

Miss Pink had a Parent Performance today.  Their first song to dance to was "Jingle Bells".  She was dancing so well until she saw Mr. Blue with the camera out taping her.  Then that was it.  She wouldn't dance anymore.  She sure did smile a lot though!

Miss Pink started dance lessons a few weeks ago.

Yesterday her teacher had the students do a little Halloween show for the parents.

 I helped her get into her costume (and taps - as she calls them) and she went wild with the camera.

 This is her best witch face.  Pretty scary, right?

 Miss Pink was a little shy during the performance.  She just started actually dancing with her teacher this week.  Before she would just sit to the side and watch.  The funny thing about that is that Miss Pink never stops dancing at home!  The performance was totally cute.  I am so grateful that we found this teacher.  She is awesome.

Miss Pink "had" to get dressed up again today.  It was the preschool parade!

I think she would sleep in this costume if I would let her.

I'm in love with this girl.  She's too cute for words.  I know I'm biased, but I'm just sayin'....
